Moving to South Korea

A little over a month ago, I moved to South Korea. My girlfriend, Rose, has been living in South Korea for about a year and half. In the USA, I had been working for the Appalachia Service Project, a Christian ministry that repairs homes for low-income families in Appalachia (go figure) that's based out of Johnson City, TN. I suppose there were other options besides moving to South Korea, but it gave me the opportunity to live in another country (something I had never done) while allowing Rose to complete her experience in Korea.

I now live in Migeum, a town in Bundang. Bundang is a newer area of the Seoul metropolitan area. While it could be considered a suburb, it's certainly much different from what I think of as suburbs in the USA. I live in an office-tel (the Korean version of an efficiency) in an 8-story building (see the picture to the left). It's much more urban than my last home--I'm not sure that there was a building this tall in all of Johnson City! I'm very close to the subway and bus stops so it's easy to get into Seoul.

Since I've been in Korea, I've been taking it easy, mostly resting and getting settled in. One of my main goals for my time here is to work on developing some healthy new routines including stretching, walking, and maybe even some martial arts. Another is to find some part-time consulting work so I don't have to get a real job:)
