Six Degrees of John McCain

Among a list of 100 ambassadors who endorsed McCain yesterday, was Lenore Annenberg, the widow of Walter Annenberg

Does the name Annenberg ring a bell? Walter Annenberg set up the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, where Barack Obama sat on the board with Bill Ayers.

While McCain publicly rails against Obama for working on a nonprofit board with Ayers, he's more than willing to accept an endorsement from the family that hired Ayers to distribute millions of dollars.

So by his own standards, McCain is palling around with people who gave money to a domestic terrorist. It's really not hard to create these sorts of negative connections--I made that one in only two degrees!

These association gotcha games are pretty meaningless with the worsening economic situation. Any past connection on either side--no matter how insignificant--can be twisted into a negative attack.

Aren't we better than this as Americans? Forget the petty personal attacks. Let's get back to talking about leadership, issues, and the best way to get ourselves out of this mess.
